About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and driven Commercial Sales Executive to join their fast-paced team based in Durham. This is a unique role combining commercial sales, procurement, supplier management, sales support, and strategic sourcing—ideal for someone who’s commercially sharp, detail-oriented, and thrives on building strong relationships both locally and internationally.
You will take ownership of purchasing decisions, negotiate supplier contracts, and play a key role in expanding the product range and identifying new growth opportunities. The role includes quarterly travel to suppliers in areas such as Europe, China, India, alongside visits to UK suppliers and customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead purchasing activities to ensure best value, cost savings, and quality control.
* Negotiate commercial terms and long-term contracts with both local and overseas suppliers.
* Develop and maintain supplier relationships, with regular quarterly visits abroad (Europe/China/India).
* Source new products and suppliers, identifying new opportunities for margin improvement and portfolio expansion.
* Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and support the commercial strategy.
* Provide commercial insights to internal teams, helping shape pricing, offers, and deal structures.
* Visit key customers to understand their business and deliver tailored commercial support.
* Analyse costs, margins, and performance metrics to identify efficiencies and growth levers.
* Stay up-to-date with market trends, pricing shifts, and competitor activity.
* Manage contracts and supplier agreements, ensuring legal and financial due diligence.
* Support business case development and ROI assessments for new initiatives.
Key Qualifications, Experience and Behaviours
* Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law or related field (MBA).
* Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings.
* Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
* Confident working with numbers, data, and financial analysis.
* Able to think strategically while rolling up sleeves to get things done.
* Proactive self-starter with a strong hustle mindset and a genuine eagerness to learn
* Humble, hungry, and smart with drive and dynamism
* Excellent attention to detail, with logical problem-solving skills.
* Comfortable travelling internationally and domestically as required.
* Experience in sourcing, procurement or commercial roles, ideally in fast-moving or multi-product environments.
