Job description Job responsibilities
Main Duties of The Role Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyse performance, quality, and capacity & demand data to identify improvement areas. Design and implement improvement measures and reporting mechanisms to capture and analyse data and support organisational decision-making. Produce routine and ad-hoc performance reports for internal and external stakeholders to support contract and KPI compliance. Support colleagues and project teams in the provision of collecting, reporting, and analysing data. Undertake benchmarking activities to compare organisational performance with NHS standards and/or other community benefit organisations to identify areas for improvement and best practices.
Data Quality:
Oversee data quality checks on source data on a routine basis and ensure data quality issues are resolved and process/reporting improvements are made.
Collaboration and Management:
Line management and leadership of the NEMS Data Team. Collaborate with teams across the organisation, commissioners, and system partners to ensure compliance and provide data-driven insights. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including non-technical audiences in both written and verbal form. Support the Governance team in achieving compliance with Quality Audit reports.
Knowledge and Experience:
Data Analysis: Excellent analytical and numeric skills. Experienced and proficient in data analysis tools and techniques. Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI to create clear and impactful reports and dashboards. Experience of summarising and presenting complex analyses to varied audiences. Data Governance: Understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, security, and compliance in line with NHS guidelines. Database Management: Familiarity with database systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle) and data warehousing concepts, including cloud-based data warehouse & analytics platforms such as Snowflake.
Judgement, Communication, and Leadership Skills:
Ability to create solutions to problems. Confident in deciding when to escalate data quality issues to senior management. Ability to critique and improve existing processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to lead and motivate a team.
Planning and Organisational Skills:
Ability to work autonomously, planning and organising tasks effectively. Manage workload and competing demands effectively, prioritising and handling urgent requests to meet service needs. Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and influence others. Able to work under pressure while adapting to changing circumstances in an autonomous manner.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential:
* Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
* Expert knowledge and experience in the use of data analytical techniques.
* Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and associated MS packages.
* Knowledge and experience of SQL.
* Experience of using Power BI.
* Advanced analytical and statistical skills.
* A commitment to continued personal development relevant to the role.
* Exposure of working with healthcare systems.
* Experienced in analysis of healthcare data.
* A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it.
Desirable:
* SQL Skills.
* Familiarity with database systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle) and data warehousing concepts.
* Experience/knowledge of cloud-based data warehouse and analytics platforms, desirably Snowflake.
* Adastra/SystmOne reporting knowledge.
* Previous experience in a role of a similar level.
* Experience in leading a team.
