This is an exciting opportunity to lead a fantastic department and to build on the subject's excellence. You will have expertise in teaching across the ability range from Year 7 to Year 13, providing challenge for the most able students as well as ensuring effective support where needed. With proven leadership ability, you will lead and manage the Music department to deliver high quality teaching and learning, maximising student progress.
The Music Department at Hitchin Girls’ School is a very special place to teach. Music has a healthy uptake at GCSE and A level, with both courses following the Edexcel specification. The A level is taught across the Hitchin Consortium, offering excellent opportunities for collaboration and sharing of expertise. Music Technology and Music Performance are also offered within the consortium, allowing our students the opportunity to explore further options within music. There is a vibrant extra curricular offer at HGS, with numerous choirs, orchestras, bands and chamber ensembles. Performances take place throughout the academic year, with termly concerts, a traditional carol service and a celebratory Founders’ Day service all forming an integral part of the school calendar.
