We are looking to recruit a Renal Unit Leader for the Renal Unit based at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The role of Renal Unit Leader is pivotal within the team and we are therefore looking for someone who has strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, a can do attitude, the ability to respond quickly to challenges, excellent haemodialysis skills and has extensive experience of providing a high standard of autonomous professional, effective patient centred care within this speciality.
Assesses clinical care, haemodialysis treatment plans, using multiple tools to identify quality and patient safety risks.
Mitigates safety risks to prevent avoidable harm to patients and participates in divisional risk management.
Manages the investigation of all clinical incidents ensuring learning occurs across the team to prevent future occurrences.
To ensure that confidentiality for patients and staff is maintained in all areas and that staff adhere to the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and the Caldicott Principles.
To ensure that there are high standards of documentation and care planning in all areas of practice and documentation standards are consistent across all areas.
Ensure that there are systems in place to capture feedback from patients/carers/ relatives.
Is responsible for a team of nursing and non-nursing ward assigned staff within their clinical area and is responsible for all aspects of staff performance including sickness/ absence and capability.
Is responsible for the ward/clinical area pay and non-pay budget.
Is responsible for undertaking acuity & dependency, as well as establishment reviews of their clinical area.
Is responsible for appraising all staff annually, and ensuring that they have the necessary skills to deliver their role
Engages in staff experience questionnaires and works with the team to ensure that teamwork is conducive to team dynamic.
Is responsible for meeting the educational /training needs of the nursing team.
