Join today and build progress with us. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our Bordesley Green Recycling site, located in the centre of Birmingham. This role is pivotal in the creation of a new 4.5-acre CDM (Construction Demolition Materials) Recycling hub that underpins Aggregate Industries circular economy strategy. You will help to mobilise the site including IT, environmental compliance, H&S procedures, security, as well as initial product movements. We have an ambitious growth plans for the site to be the leading Birmingham CDM recycling centre. Key Responsibilities Ensure safety and compliance of all onsite operations Recruit, lead and manage a high performing team including contractors Drive financial performance of the site to outperform budget and forecast. Operate site in accordance with planning permission and any other environmental permits. Implement and ensure compliance with EA, WRAP Protocol, Health and Safety policies and all activities under your control are conducted in line with current legislation. Liaise with Sourcing, Sales and Logistics teams to identify suitable waste streams for processing. Liaise with the Commercial team to identify target products and required inventory levels. Liaise with internal H&S, environment, planning and permitting stakeholders to help mobilise the operation and maintain its compliance. Ensure feedstock is managed to optimise premium product production and quality. Ensure that all material produced complies with agreed quality standards, Factory Production Control and WRAP protocol. Ensure plant and equipment under your control are maintained and in safe condition. Cascade information to all team members and escalate any key concerns. Carry out day to day activities in accordance with the business code of conduct. Ensure inductions and appropriate training is given to all staff, employees and contractors. Ensure all personnel under your control (including contractors) are competent to carry out the tasks to which they are contracted. Skills And Qualifications Proven experience in operational management, preferably in the recycling or construction industries. Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and development. Excellent understanding of health and safety compliance and environmental legislation. Demonstrated ability to use strategic thinking to drive operational improvements. Strong communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail. Proficient in using standard office software and management tools.
