We are seeking a highly motivated, analytical and dynamic individual to join our Commercial team as a Commercial Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for providing detailed market analysis, financial insights, and energy industry intelligence to support strategic decision-making and business development. This position plays a key role in optimising commercial performance, identifying new opportunities, and driving the company’s growth within the energy sector.
Market Analysis:
Conduct thorough research and analysis of the energy market, including energy pricing, supply and demand trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape. Financial Modelling & Reporting:
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate the commercial viability of projects, products and services, pricing strategies, and investment opportunities. Prepare and present detailed reports, cost-benefit analysis, and commercial risk assessments. Data Analysis:
Analyse and interpret complex data sets, identify trends and potential risks, and create actionable insights for senior management. Utilise data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and measure the success of business initiatives.
• Energy Sector Insights:
Stay updated on developments in the energy industry, including renewable energy, energy transition, policy/regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Provide strategic recommendations based on market shifts and new trends.
• Be flexible to both customer and company needs, be willing to jump in and support all areas of the business.
• Assist in the evaluation and negotiation of commercial contracts, including all aspects of the commercial value proposition, from energy purchasing agreements to joint venture appraisal. Risk Management:
Identify and analyse potential risks, including financial, regulatory, market and commercial risks. Provide recommendations to mitigate these risks and protect the company’s commercial interests.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience (2-5 years) in a commercial or energy analyst role, ideally within the energy sector or a related industry (e.g., utilities, renewables, oil & gas).
• Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools, particularly MS Excel. Familiarity with energy markets, energy pricing mechanisms, and relevant industry trends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and risks.

35,000 – 55,000 per annum depending on experience, and EMI options after successful completion of the first 6 month.
~34 days of annual leave per year ( 25 flexible + 9 fixed annual leave days which can either be the Scottish Bank Holidays or aligned to the school term breaks in your council area of residence.)
