This post encompasses leadership and managerial skills and is an ideal opportunity for a senior Band 6 RGN to provide leadership to the Outpatient Nursing Team and support to the Nurse Manager.
You will need to be a methodical, hardworking, flexible and creative employee, who responds well to challenges. Excellent communication skills are essential to this post.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide leadership, guidance and support to all nursing staff within the clinical area, and continuous quality care to a specified group of patients.
2. To take responsibility for the management and co-ordination of the clinical area in conjunction with and in the absence of the OPD Manager.
3. To provide support and expertise in the assessment, planning and evaluation of all patient care within the medical, surgical and orthopaedic setting.
4. To assist in the budgetary management, training and development of staff to provide high quality care which is evidence-based.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary:

Key Result Areas:
1. Continually assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based programmes of care in order to ensure the provision of a high standard of care.
2. Personally deliver a high standard of care to a group of patients, acting as a team leader / named nurse and clinical role model at all times.
3. Ensure the provision of advice, support and health information to patients and their carers in order to promote a health-based service.
4. Maintain accurate and legible records of all clinical and legal documentation to include accident / incident reporting, with regard to NMC, statutory and Trust policies.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Registered Nurse Level 1 register
* 1st Level Degree or equivalent
* Teaching and assessing qualification
Experience
* To have worked as a Band 5 staff nurse in a hospital setting for at least 18 months.
* To demonstrate knowledge of being up to date within the speciality - worked with learners in a supervisory capacity.
* Good time management and prioritisation skills
Knowledge
* Well-developed interpersonal skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Knowledge and understanding of the relevant NICE guidance
* Evidence of continued professional development of self and other health care professionals
* Organisational skills
* IT Literacy to a high level
