The Archdiocese of Liverpool is seeking a dedicated Building Surveyor to join our Surveying and Property Section. You will be covering a period of secondment while the substantive post holder takes on a more senior role. This position provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the Northwest’s most varied and interesting estates.
This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about buildings and dedicated to supporting the mission and charitable objectives of the Archdiocese. You will play a vital role in supporting parishes and contributing to the effective stewardship of the Archdiocesan estate. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting inspections
2. Managing projects
3. Ensuring financial oversight
4. Advising on compliance with building regulations and health and safety standards
The ideal candidate will have:
* Accredited building qualification
* Experience working in the construction industry
* Experience undertaking condition surveys
* Good knowledge of construction and building pathology
* Experience managing projects from start to completion
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Attention to detail and ability to identify defects
You will need strong interpersonal skills and be able to manage successful relationships with multiple stakeholders from contractors to Parish Priests. Travel across the archdiocese is expected.
Contract and Salary
This is a fixed-term, full-time position. Salary is within the range of £33,000 to £44,000, depending on candidate qualifications and experience. This position is initially offered on a fixed-term basis for 2 years and may become permanent depending on the outcome of an internal capacity review.
Location
Saint Margaret Clitherow Centre (Aigburth, Liverpool) with travel across the Archdiocese area expected.
Annual Leave
38 days, which includes eight bank/public holidays.
Pension
Employees will be enrolled into the People’s Pension Scheme with a contribution rate of 3%, and 5% contributed by the employer. The Archdiocese will match employee contributions up to 6% of their pensionable salary.
