The Financial Controller role for a leading education provider involves overseeing its financial operations, ensuring robust financial management, and guiding financial planning. The position includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, playing a key role in supporting the college's strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
* Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports
* Leading the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads as a Business Partner
* Monitoring and reporting on budget performance, providing insights and recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements
* Preparation of cash flow forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making
* Coordinating and overseeing annual audits and liaising with external auditors
* Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of statutory VAT returns
* Providing financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making and long-term planning
* Managing and developing the finance team, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure high performance
* Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team
Candidate background:
We are looking for a qualified accountant with proven experience in the areas above. The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen and analytical skills, be a strategic thinker, and possess strong people management skills. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. A high level of proficiency with IT, particularly Excel, is required.
