Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Pelvic and Acetabular fracture surgeon to join a committed trauma service in a Major Trauma Centre. This is a full-time locum post for 12 months from 1st February 2025 with the potential to become substantive.
This post involves working in a busy trauma directorate with 3 other pelvic and acetabular fracture consultant colleagues, providing a comprehensive pelvic and acetabular service, responding to local and referral network referrals. We aim for dual consultant operating, and the post involves provision of hip (or other specialist interest) elective work for the population of Stoke and Stafford. UHNM is a Major Trauma Centre for adults that serves the population of Staffordshire, Shropshire, South Cheshire and North Wales.
Services currently offered within the unit are complex trauma and an elective service including all aspects of orthopaedic surgery. The post holder will also be expected to provide common trauma, hip fracture, periprosthetic fracture work and contribute to a 1:10 major trauma on-call rota.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will take responsibility for the inpatient and outpatient care of trauma/orthopaedic patients. This will include caring for Pelvic/Acetabular patients as well as the provision of general emergency trauma and elective orthopaedic care to UHNM patients.
UHNM trauma directorate works closely with the prestigious Keele Medical School and there will be an opportunity for the post-holder to contribute to medical student teaching. We also have a vast network of allied health professionals.
The post holder will be expected to take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department. All Consultants are involved in planning and development of the service.

Qualifications
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) – proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview, CESR or European Community Rights
Professional and Multidisciplinary Team Working
* Experience of post graduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level
* Experience of supervising specialist/core and foundation trainees
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
* Effective participation in clinical audit
* Publications in clinical journals
Clinical Experience
* Extensive experience in managing Pelvic and Acetabular trauma as part of a major trauma service
* Evidence of completion of approved fellowship training in Pelvic and Acetabular sub-specialty
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
* ATLS/European Trauma or equivalent Trauma Course in the last four years
* Evidence of completion of approved fellowship training in Hip/other elective specialty interest.
