You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for our students and staff About the Role: In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school site, including maintenance, security, health and safety, and general upkeep. You will work closely with the Principal and other staff to ensure the smooth running of the school. Main responsibilities and duties: Premises Management: Oversee the maintenance and repair of school buildings and grounds. Manage cleaning, porterage, and waste disposal. Monitor and supervise contractors. Conduct regular checks and inspections of the premises and equipment. Coordinate with gardening contractors. Security: Ensure the security of the school premises, including locking and unlocking. Monitor security systems and alarms. Act as the main key holder and respond to call-outs. Monitor CCTV systems. Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct risk assessments and maintain COSHH records. Manage fire safety procedures, including testing alarms and conducting drills. Ensure safe access to the school during adverse weather conditions. Inspect playground equipment. General Site Duties: Manage heating and hot water systems. Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks. Ensure the school is clean and tidy. Manage deliveries and furniture movement. Monitor energy readings. Administration: Place orders for supplies and maintain inventory records. Maintain logs of inspections and checks. Assist with obtaining tenders and quotes. Maintain records of PAT testing. Essential Criteria: Experience in site management or a similar role. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Practical skills in maintenance and repairs. Ability to work independently and manage workload. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to use computer systems for ordering and record keeping. Ability to be a key holder and respond to out of hours calls. Commitment to safeguarding. Desirable Skills: Experience working in a school environment. Knowledge of building maintenance systems. Experience supervising outside contractors. Experience with risk assessments.
