Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged students across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about making a positive impact on children who require additional support due to diverse needs such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, or emotional and behavioural challenges. You will play a key role in promoting students' wellbeing, confidence, and academic progress in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Duties Provide tailored 1:1 support for students with a range of needs, including ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and behavioural challenges. Work closely with the class teacher to implement strategies that support individual learning plans (ILPs). Offer emotional and wellbeing support to help students develop confidence, resilience, and self-regulation skills. Use creative techniques to engage students in learning activities, such as sensory play for EYFS or structured literacy support for older children. Manage challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques. Facilitate small group activities or interventions when appropriate to support social interaction and peer relationships. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and SENCOs to ensure a consistent approach to each child's development. Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to planning meetings as required.Skills Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly in primary settings. Understanding of strategies for supporting ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and social/emotional challenges. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff. Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with complex needs. Ability to adapt and personalise learning activities to suit individual students. Familiarity with wellbeing and emotional support strategies, such as mindfulness or social stories.Examples of Support Assisting a child in EYFS with ASD by using visual schedules and sensory activities to support transitions and engagement. Helping a Year 1 student with ADHD maintain focus during literacy activities by breaking tasks into manageable steps and using positive reinforcement. Providing emotional support to a KS2 student dealing with anxiety, using calming strategies and fostering a safe space for communication.
