West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is developing its strategy function. We are looking to attract talent from within and outside the NHS to improve the way we plan long-term. The post holder will work as part of dynamic team supporting and influencing the decision-making process at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role helps the Trust deliver its long-term ambitions through management of major strategic programmes, integrate the strategic vision and approach into established processes, lead strategic programmes while working with our teams and partner organisations, and make tangible progress towards an improved health and care service.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include:Managing major strategic programmes (clinical strategy, service repatriation, provider collaboration, etc.).
Appraising, generating, interpreting strategic insights and developing strategic options.
Building relationships and cooperating with clinical and non-clinical teams.
Supporting, coaching and managing colleagues in strategy and other teams working on complex programmes.
Day-to-day programme delivery.

The post holder will work with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders both in the trust and externally. A great candidate should be able to operate effectively in a flexible, demanding and sometimes uncertain environment, as well as challenge existing views to foster productive debates on complex issues.
The team operates a standard Monday to Friday.

Education and qualifications
Essential
1. Educated to masters' level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
Knowledge

2. Health and care sector knowledge
3. Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications to the Trust
4. Have an appreciation of the relationship between NHS England, Hertfordshire and West Essex ICS and our Trust
5. Project or change management best practice.
Experience

6. Experience of working in the health and care sector
7. Programme leadership experience
8. Experience of engagement, event planning and facilitation of discussions with multiple stakeholders
9. Experience of business planning, delivery and support.
10. Experience of business case development.
11. Proven ability to prioritise and organise workload in complex programmes and competing tasks.
Desirable
12. Experience of working for the NHS Trust.
