As a Materials Manager, you will provide leadership and management oversight & support to the daily operations of all supply chain functions at Nuffield Health Hospital Bournemouth. You will serve as the key lead between the Central supply chain and the hospital leadership teams, providing effective communication internally, across the hospital and within your department. This role also supports the individual and team’s development, knowledge, and skills improvement.
The Materials Manager will lead the on-site supply chain department, including inventory management, vendor relationship management, and managing supply expenses. You will be responsible for implementing best practices and continuous improvement across the Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, motivate, supervise, and train the team within the Materials departments at Nuffield Health Bournemouth.
* Ensure effective people management including recruitment, development, deployment, performance review, absence management, and overall accountability of the team.
* Ensure departmental meetings take place and relevant communication is cascaded effectively.
* Ensure goods and services are purchased to meet hospital requirements, in line with Nuffield Health’s policies and procedures.
* Develop the department with accountability for achieving cost management and the accurate and timely provision of all management information required.
* Ensure effective business planning and development for the department with input into hospital business planning, improvement, and development.
* Be the face of Supply Chain and make yourself a key point of contact at site.
* Ensure the achievement of Supply Chain objectives such as target inventory levels and stock days.
* Ensure all audits/reviews of the department and its performance are undertaken and recorded, addressing any issues promptly.
* Implement Nuffield Health policies and procedures within the department and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
* Engage with senior stakeholders at the facilities such as Head of Departments, Hospital Directors, and Finance Business Partners.
* Develop customer trust through relationship building and be a credible change management expert.
* Consult and meet regularly with departments to discuss necessary changes due to developments in clinical practice and the wider supply chain.
* Ensure best practices in inventory management are followed, managing and recording planned stock counts in accordance with Nuffield Health Supply Chain policy.
* Liaise with Nuffield Health Procurement department to manage supplier activities in relation to the service provided to the hospital.
* Identify and address risk management issues in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner and Regional Materials Manager.
* Implement and support cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
* Ensure timely and accurate invoice investigations and resolutions.
* Participate in any business process/project/initiative that may impact or be impacted by your area of responsibility.
