Role Description
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Shift Operations Manager to join our operations team here at Cardiff. This is an exciting time to join our business as it continues to grow and evolve following a recent £60 million investment into our Cardiff site. The Cardiff site has the prestigious status of being the Juice Centre of Excellence. Position Overview
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for the effective Juice manufacturing within the Cardiff site. This role entails being the accountable person on site outside of normal working hours. You will deliver for our customers through leadership, direction, and development of high-performing teams focused on meeting performance metrics relating to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) within the manufacturing process. You will be the facilitator of business policies and their deployment within the Juice manufacturing processes. You will ensure that HSE facets within manufacturing are implemented and maintained, escalating issues to the relevant authority.
Please note you will be required to work continental shifts for this position.
Dimensions:
You will have direct reports including Team Leader level, IPC, and Engineering. Working with the Manufacturing Manager, you will have budgetary control of direct and indirect materials.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Manufacturing Manager in the delivery of business objectives.
* Be a strong people manager, responsible for labour planning, budgetary resource capacity planning, absence management, disciplinary, training, recruitment, and PDRs.
* Embed a safety culture mindset within the team, ensuring daily and weekly audits are undertaken and corrective/improvement actions are closed out.
* Embed High-Performance Work Team culture through facilitation of KATA problem-solving methods, workplace organisation, process confirmation, and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
* Manage the material flow of product through the factory in line with set rules around storage, location, and WIP on the floor.
* Improve the production system through facilitation of Operational Excellence maturity, including a strong facilitation of key Operational Disciplines.
* Work with the Manufacturing Manager to manage year-on-year cost reduction tactical improvement projects, through cost of failure analysis and prioritisation that deliver maximum return.
* KPI focused, ensure data collection within the processes to facilitate continuous improvement projects and methods.
* Drive production asset and process efficiency through OPR measures and throughput improvements.
* Participate in and sometimes lead cross-functional improvement projects.
* Conduct regular one-to-one and PDR development reviews with team members.
* Ensure new starters, Fixed Term Contractors, and Apprentices are sufficiently mentored throughout their employment and appraisal process with Princes.
* Plan and organise daily activities and business objectives through an aligned standard diary.
* Carry out all operational leadership-related activities in accordance with annual Operations objectives and business imperatives.
* Manage the Time & Attendance and HR System for all direct reports.
* Carry out all operational leadership-related activities in accordance with our organisation values.
Role Requirements
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Experience of creating and leading high-performance teams in a high volume fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Management experience in a unionised environment (preferred).
* NEBOSH National General Certificate (minimum).
* Incident Management certified.
* Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt (preferred).
* Computer Literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Kata Problem solving and coaching trained.
* Fully conversant with Operational Excellence methods.
* To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity, and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
