The main duties of this role will be to repair, maintain and improve all tooling dies, jigs, fixtures, and fittings for all tooling at the business. You will be responsible for initiating and implementing process improvements to increase output and efficiencies of the business.
You will be recommending improvements to current tooling used to facilitate SMED techniques. You will be identifying, initiating, and implementing your recommended improvements across all areas of production to increase output and effectiveness of the business.
You will be evaluating each job and determining if it can be repaired in the press or whether it requires further repair work, estimating the duration required to complete each repair and conducting a risk assessment if it is not repaired in the set duration.
The Person
You will take ownership of all issues and repair work from start to finish, adopting a proactive approach to all work and duties. You will be able to make appropriate decisions to determine the best course of action for repair work. You will need to be analytical and data-driven when solving problems, coinciding with an ability to work well under pressure.
You will have a good understanding of written and verbal communication, good time management, and a keen eye for detail. You will need to be trained in all tool room machinery and tools for this role.
Your experience in SMED techniques, previous tool making, and manufacturing will be essential for this role. Alongside your knowledge of measurement techniques, understanding and following engineering drawings, and understanding manufacturing processes.
