Job summary We are looking for a Mechanical Assistant to join our hard working Estate team. As a Mechanical Assistant you will assist in the provision of a high quality, efficient, responsive, flexible & effective estates service to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. As a mechanical assistant you will be working as part of a multi-disciplined team within Estates reporting to the Estates Officer (Operational). Assisting in the maintenance and repair of installations, plant and equipment to keep unplanned downtime to a minimum,complying with the Health & Safety at work Act and other legislation, to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction. Main duties of the job For this role you will be able to manage your own allocated workload. Work unsupervised in the course of maintenance duties, including responding to out of hour requests in conjunction with other staff involved in the Estates on-call service. Flushing of water outlets and support senior maintenance staff in routine water testing and sampling activities so as to maintain compliance with ACOP L8. Minor plumbing and mechanical tasks and assist building trades where appropriate, whilst having an understanding of the operation of building services inNHS buildings to maintain safe and efficient operation of the buildings and building services Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). Follow PPM Schedules, completing necessary report sheets and test certificates and updating Plant Room Log Books. You will be guided by departmental precedents and clearly defined occupational policies, protocol, standard operating procedures (SOP's) and codes of conduct. Work is supervised and results/outcomes are assessed at agreed intervals. More senior Estates Officers are available for reference.
