We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Eliburn Support Service is a day service that operates from a building base to support adults who have a learning disability, associated physical disabilities and who also have complex health care needs and/or life limiting conditions.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the successful applicant to join our staff team on a fixed term basis covering Maternity Leave.
The Service supports individuals through face-to-face contact with high levels of staffing, to access a range of building and community-based meaningful activities that meet individual outcomes.
This role requires staff to develop and deliver a stimulating person-centred, outcome-focused service, in line with West Lothian Council policy and procedure and Care Inspectorate guidance, as well as key National Strategies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate practical skills, knowledge, and understanding in how to support and enable people through a range of interactions while adopting a creative holistic approach to an individual’s care and support to meet social, health, and wellbeing requirements.
The role includes providing full ‘hands-on care’ with support for personal care, physical and mobility management, as well as assisting people with meals and drinks.
Service users also require support from staff with their communication, both understanding and expression, including enabling and supporting people to express their likes, dislikes, and wishes.
This role is rewarding but can be demanding, and candidates must be able to physically support service users to access community-based and building-based activities in a way that ensures meaningful experiences while carrying out personal care support.
The successful candidate will be expected to record information and maintain a degree of paperwork, including involvement with care plans in both electronic and written forms.
HNC Health and Social Care or SVQ 3 (Health and Social Care – Adults) are desirable for this post. However, it is essential that applicants demonstrate they can meet the criteria set out.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
