Registration
Essential criteria
* Full GMC registration
Training / Experience
Essential criteria
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* Tertiary level neonatal experience at middle grade of at least six months
* NLS Provider
* Neonatal clinical skills to work at a middle grade level in a tertiary neonatal unit including practical procedures
Desirable criteria
* Advanced skills in an area of special interest within neonatology
* NLS Instructor
* Neonatal transport experience/training Advanced Resuscitation of Newborn and Infant provider
Management Skills
Essential criteria
* Evidence of basic management skills
Teaching
Essential criteria
* Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduate doctors
* Experience of clinical simulation
Desirable criteria
* Completed teaching courses / train the trainer / GIC
* Appraisal and assessment training and skills
* Experience designing and delivering teaching and/or simulation sessions
Personal Skills
Essential criteria
* Able to supervise junior staff effectively
* Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
* Good oral and written communication skills in English
Audit/Research
Essential criteria
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit
* Understanding of clinical governance issues
* Ability to assess and apply evidence based research into everyday clinical practice
* Commitment to development and adherence to departmental guidelines and protocols.
Desirable criteria
* Attendance at neonatal scientific meetings
* Evidence of having written/participated in the writing of evidence based guidelines
* Presentations at regional & national meetings
