Role: CAD Engineer Location: Northamptonshire Salary: £40k-£50k (Depending on experience) Within this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Lead Engineer/CADManager/Chief Engineer by designing and developing systems for various programmes and project frameworks. Also, to produce detailed design solutions using CATIA V5 CAD software. Main Responsibilities • Design, develop and engineer high quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools, considering design form manufacture and assembly, the quality of functional deployment and the finite element analysis data (if appropriate) • Design system attributes and frameworks for processes and produce designs that meet targets for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation, and timing • Ensure all work that is carried out follows company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards • Interact with and support the Lead Engineer/CAD Manager/Chief Engineer as necessary to obtain critical design information to achieve targets effectively and within intended time frames • Update and maintain product design files • Assist in improving daily processes to ensure that all systems meet the required specifications and performance targets necessary • Train and guide the team in design reviews along with customers and suppliers • Determine limitation, assumptions and solutions in the design and development of CAD models • Analyse, design and build business/technical solutions that deliver the desired outcome • Create detailed design documentation • Define, create, and maintain development methodologies, procedures, and standards • Produce final design specifications • Supervise junior and other relevant team members involved in the project design Personal Specification • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Able to work with minimal instruction and the ability to take ownership of an issue and drive it to a conclusion • Able to identify time constraints, problems or deadlines and find appropriate solutions • Thrive in a pressurised and fast paced environment, with the ability to prioritise workload • Reliable and punctual • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail• A strong team ethic with the ability to interact with all levels across the business • Have a drive to seek continuous improvement, to manage and develop a system • To comply with all company policies and procedures Experience Required • Knowledge of materials and processes to ensure designs are developed meeting industry standards • Experience with system design and delivery • Experience in automotive components, processes, and systems in a motorsport/low volume environment • Practice in technical skills such as GD&T, DFM, DFA, CAE/FEA, CAD, FMEA, DVP&R • Knowledge to support and guide junior team members.
