Teacher in charge of Religious Studies and PSHE
Main Areas of Responsibility:
1. Establish and be accountable for outstanding provision within the subject area, including all programmes, systems, and structures aligned with the academy’s vision and values.
2. Accountable for student progress and development in the subject area across all relevant Key Stages, including meeting student attainment/achievement targets.
3. Ensure high standards of teaching and learning through continuous development and enhancement of quality.
4. Provide an engaging, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students in accordance with the academy aims and policies.
5. Implement and apply all school policies and procedures consistently by all colleagues in the subject area.
6. As the PSHE Lead, work collaboratively with staff to foster students’ wellbeing, emotional resilience, and social responsibility.
7. Manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across the subject area with the support of the Faculty Director.
8. Lead development for literacy within the subject area to raise standards across the Academy.
9. Formulate an annual subject improvement plan (SIP) in conjunction with the subject team that supports the academy improvement plan (AIP).
10. Develop appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking and assessment policies, and teaching and learning strategies.
11. Ensure Health and Safety policies and practices are in line with national requirements.
12. Develop a comprehensive assessment methodology for PSHE learning that tracks pupil progress and skill development.
13. Oversee and coordinate the delivery of PSHE across all Key Stages.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
2. Have a minimum of one year's teaching experience.
3. Have proven success in raising achievement.
4. Show a high level of ICT skills and experience of utilizing new technologies to raise achievement.
5. Have recent experience in innovative curriculum development.
6. Demonstrate a good understanding of creative whole school strategies for improving literacy and numeracy.
7. Have experience in embedding innovative strategies for Assessment for Learning and Learning to Learn.
8. Be willing to use coaching as a model for ongoing professional development.
9. Proven ability to identify and implement strategies to raise standards of Teaching and Learning.
