This 9-month paid internship is your chance to gain hands-on experience learning about International Humanitarian Law (IHL). You’ll work alongside the Youth Engagement and Community Education teams to research IHL. You'll assess educational resources, and collaborate with young people to create fresh, engaging ideas. As part of the British Red Cross, you’ll be contributing to a mission that connects human kindness with those in crisis, helping to build resilience in communities. Based in either London or Birmingham, you’ll travel nationally (expenses covered) and help develop strategies to make IHL education more relevant for today’s youth. Plus, you’ll assist with reporting, provide feedback, and support the team while embracing the charity’s values. Wondering about a day in the life of a Young Humanitarian Intern? You'll be: Researching IHL, evaluating educational resources, and inspiring young people to take action. Collaborating with the Youth Engagement and Community Education teams. Coproducing educational resources, making recommendations, and traveling nationally for collaboration. Consistently communicating with your line manager and team members during meetings, and actively participating in discussions. Developing a strategy to keep IHL education relevant for young people. What will you need to be a successful Young Humanitarian Intern? Exceptional communication abilities, capable of engaging effectively with individuals of all age groups. Strong research and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Be proficient in IT, with an understanding of digital tools and platforms for research and communication. Possess a solid foundational understanding of International Humanitarian Law.
