Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 dependent upon experience.
Location: To be based in our Northallerton or Otley office with hybrid home working. This will be three days within office and two days at home. Some travel required to visit buildings/sites across the North of England
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Due to our continued steady expansion, we now have the opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to bring their experience, professionalism and enthusiasm to the Building Services team that work within the company’s successful multi-discipline workforce of Architects, Highways Engineers, Drainage Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Civil Engineers and Structural Engineers collaborating on a variety of projects from industrial buildings to new build homes, schools to refurbishments.
You will be responsible for providing a variety of services including those relating to building pathology, design, project management, building surveys and contract administration as well as producing early design advice through to detailed mechanical services design.
Your previous experience in Mechanical Services Engineering will have given you the ability to manage a busy and varied project workload, appreciate complex situations and communicate clearly when working closely with other disciplines to deliver engineering solutions to meet client’s budgets and programmes.
This position will involve visiting sites to attend meetings, carry out inspections and surveys across current and planned projects in North Yorkshire, North East England, Cumbria, West Yorkshire North Lincs so you must be able to make your way independently to these sites.
You will be able to advise on Health and Safety issues, fire safety and sustainability throughout the design and construction period of projects, taking into account the Construction Design and Management Regulations. As someone who is proactive, you will look for new challenges and be committed to maintaining an annual programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be at the heart of Align Property Partners as we continue to grow. To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:
· Production of Mechanical Building Services design calculations using a wide range of techniques including industry standard software such as Hevacomp and IES.
· Producing feasibility reports, condition surveys, design specifications and drawings suitable for all RIBA work stages.
· Overseeing and supervising the installation of building services systems, undertaking commissioning management and specifying maintenance and operating procedures.
· Carry out project design and complete H&S risk assessments to meet current CDM regulation requirements.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
· You will have a Degree or HNC in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering and ideally working towards MCIBSE.
Technical Skills and Ability:
· The preparation of mechanical surveys and condition survey reports.
· Investigation and analysis of services defects to develop solutions to system failures.
· The preparation of feasibility studies.
· Preparation of decarbonisation/sustainability reports.
· Ability to produce plans, sections and detailed drawings, specifications, schedules of works and other documents to high standards in conjunction with internal and external design disciplines.
· Proficiency with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk AutoCAD and NBS software. Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
· The preparation of applications for utility supplies for new and existing buildings.
