Peri-operative Practitioner in Preoperative Assessment
Are you looking to join a dedicated and friendly team within Theatres and Anaesthetics? Preoperative assessment is a surgical outpatient clinic undertaking assessments for multi specialities. We are looking for a highly motivated registered nurse or ODP to join our team.
The Role: You will be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, committed to providing high quality, patient-centred care for those in need of optimisation prior to surgery. You will be able to communicate effectively with patients/staff and demonstrate the trusts core values within your practice. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, welcoming patients to the unit and assessing medical history for those having a general anaesthetic for a wide range of procedures under different specialities including: Thoracic, Urology, General Surgery, Colorectal, Gynaecological, Hepatobiliary, Radiology and Oncology. You will triage and assess patients via the telephone or face to face, refer for clinical tests and investigations, follow up and action referrals and prep for clinical tests. Main duties of the job
This is an amazing opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with good communication and organisational skills. Successful candidates will be working within a multi-disciplinary team as well as autonomously assessing patients' medical history. They will support the patient pathway and use NICE guidelines.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care.
To deliver care without supervision.
To take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.
To participate in the in-service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students.
To take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients.
To promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care.
3. JOB DIMENSIONS
The jobholder will work within an environment caring for adult patients and carrying out pre-assessments for surgery. Most of these will be conducted by telephone with some face to face consultations.

Clinical

2. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
