Spencer Clarke Group are currently working with a successfully, and fast-growing Accountancy Firm based in Huddersfield, who are currently looking to grow their Audit and Accounts team!
Our client is searching for an ACA Qualified Audit and Accounts Senior to join their incredibly busy team, and dive in to a busy portfolio of clients.
They are a general practice Firm, with approx. 21 staff members, working with clients of turnovers up to £80 million! Due to high demand for their Audit services, their portfolio is increasing in size very quickly.

What does our client require for this role?
8. ACA qualified
9. A minimum of 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
10. Experience of planning and delivering work to the highest standard
11. Excellent knowledge of VAT and Corporation Tax
12. Effective communication skills, both written and in person, with experience of attending and contributing to client meetings
13. Evidence of a commitment to own continuous professional development and ensuring technical knowledge is current and relevant
14. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including advanced features such as pivot tables)
15. Strong knowledge of Sage 50 and Xero
What does this role entail?
This role will work across a broad portfolio of owner managed businesses. You will work alongside the Director and firm's accounts team in a client facing role as well as supervising staff across different levels, playing a key role in their development within the firm.
Duties include:
16. Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients. The work split will be approximately 50% audit work and 50% accounts
17. Developing a strong working relationship with clients and maintaining regular communications, both at year end and throughout the year as required
18. Resolve technical issues with clients and colleagues
19. Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a friendly and positive manner
20. Supervise staff at varying levels of qualifications and experience
21. Take responsibility for the training and development of a growing team of accountants and bookkeepers, including carrying out reviews, appraisals and assisting with the development of their technical skills and knowledge
22. Planning and reviewing accounts files that are prepared by other team members
23. Preparing year end accounts, management accounts and tax computations to a high standard
24. Prepare cashflow projections for clients
25. Complete/review VAT returns as and when required
26. Assist clients with accounts, Sage and Xero queries
27. Managing the team’s workflow and job progress, ensuring all deadlines are met
28. Generating sales invoices for completion of clients’ accounts and ensure correct billing
29. Contributing to weekly team meetings and management team meetings
30. Plan assignments effectively, ensuring adequate resources are allocated and that staff are briefed on the requirements of each job
31. Driving projects forward and controlling implementation
32. Be proactive with regards to business development; seeking new clients and attending networking events as required
33. Use networking and contacts to keep up-to-date on current business affairs and to contribute to the development of the client base and the firm
34. Visit client offices as and when required
