WHAT TO EXPECT
Come and join JLR’s Finance department, as they offer a unique and highly challenging experience with business-wide exposure and development. The key to success is the ability to manage our internal customer's expectations and deliver against their requirements using resources assigned against multiple and often conflicting priorities.
The Cost Engineering function is an integral part of the Finance department and is responsible for ensuring the correct use of JLR funds pertaining to all aspects of the supply chain in line with product aspirations to deliver profitable growth, by partnering the business in all other operational functions (principally Purchasing, Product Engineering, Advanced Product Creation, and other Finance functions).
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Deliver robust detailed and directional Should Costs (estimates) and supporting initiatives to identify commodity cost saving opportunities within the JLR supply chain.
* Support commercial and lead technical negotiations to deliver cost gap closure.
* Be a crucial and proactive member of the Matched Trio (Cost Engineer, Buyer and Engineer).
* Participate in the process of supplier selection and supplier strategy planning.
* Provide support to Product Engineering on design and change cost impact.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
* Knowledge of Body commodities: key cost drivers, raw materials, manufacturing processes, etc.
* Business and financial acumen, strong cost estimating skills preferably on Interior commodity.
* Strength of character and a determination to champion cost saving opportunities and drive cost gap closure.
* Strong computer literacy mainly in MS Excel, with adaptability to company/department-specific systems.
* Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, to internal and external stakeholders.
