Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

£36,395.38 per annum
Monday- Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-1:20pm ( 39 hours per week)
This is a static site-based position
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person for our client based in Cranfield. As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter you will provide a delivery of facilities support services across our clients site. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of general/fabric maintenance and business support tasks. You will report to the Operations Supervisor and assist as required in the delivery of reactive, planned and ad-hoc maintenance tasks.
Mechanical Maintenance Fitter Responsibilities-
1. Fault finding in mechanical / electromechanical equipment & control systems.
2. Undertake maintenance, inspection and repair of the plant in accordance with the agreed maintenance regime, including scheduling new tasks.
3. Ensuring that machinery and equipment meets safety regulations.
4. Intervening in the event of breakdowns, failures or malfunctions.
5. Carry out regular weekly walk rounds of the site to identify any facility asset deterioration and report, repair as needed and be first line for any alterations or new equipment.
6. Respond to user requests for repair, maintenance and infrastructure enhancements.
7. Ensure spares are identified and managed in line with materials required.
8. Set up equipment in an efficient manner, based on a sound technical understanding of the equipment and its functionality.
9. Liaise with and manage suppliers and contractors to ensure the best possible service is delivered to the company.
10. Diagnosis of mechanical issues with equipment/facility and facilitate its repair.
11. Support the upgrade of mechanical equipment within the test facilities.
12. Happy to work in confined spaces and at height.
13. Frequent usage of a nifty lift, FLT and scaffold towers.
Mechanical Maintenance Fitter Requirements-
14. In-depth knowledge of complex mechanical, facility & electromechanical equipment.
15. City & Guilds or BTEC National qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering ( or equivalent)
16. Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
17. Ability to work in a varied role, working effectively on multiple tasks in parallel.
18. Self-motivated, conscientious with the ability to communicate effectively and work either independently or as part of a team.
19. Able to learn quickly about new subjects and apply that learning to current tasks.
20. Acutely aware of all H&S aspects and a strong understanding of isolation and lockout procedures.
21. A strong Mechanical and Electrical skillset, ideally with an emphasis on Mechanical
22. Engineering.
23. Familiarity with automotive test facilities such as MTS hydraulic systems and environmental test
24. A flexible and responsive attitude to go above and beyond when required.
25. Ability to remain focused in high pressure situations.
26. Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office programs.
27. Good Health & Safety knowledge and attitude – understanding of and experience of carrying out risk assessments.
28. To work in support of a preventative maintenance strategy. Undertaking work of a predictive preventive and repair nature.
29. Meet and exceed set KPIs for safety, quality, and productivity.
30. Ensure contractors are appropriately supervised and comply with contractual commitments and site operating processes.
31. Document and communicate as necessary comprehensive maintenance records
32. Full UK driving licence.
