Rotating shift: 6 am - 14:00 pm one week / 14:00 pm - 22:00 pm following week
We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join us at our facility in Wellingborough, UK.
To be an integral part of the quality control team, completing tests on products against specifications manufactured or purchased by Axalta/U-POL and accurately record the data produced.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure that the quality of all products supplied by the business conform to agreed specifications, by carrying out day-to-day testing of raw materials and finished products whilst working in a timely manner and at times increased pressure.
* Understand why quality testing is so important and why testing is performed on all manufactured material, understand the implications of non-conforming material making it out into the market.
* Understand the importance of adhering to quality standards and certifications maintained by Axalta/U-POL.
* Achieve a competent level of understanding and ability to carry out all defined tests for product approval for fillers, coatings, raw materials, aerosols, ancillaries.
* Accurately record test data on Excel spreadsheets and carry out Magic transactions e.g., bookings and adjustments.
* Perform adjustments for correction of failed batches to bring them into spec.
* Basic understanding of the company Average Weight System and the relevant regulations.
* Carry out weekly and monthly tasks allocated by the Quality Laboratory Manager to help the department run efficiently and provide a high level of service to the business.
* Maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping within all areas of the department.
* Have a basic understanding of the company’s product range and of Raw Materials and how they contribute to formulations.
* Liaise with relevant departments over any quality issues and raise all quality incidents in a professional manner through the SFQ or NCR process. Support the business where possible in assisting to develop preventative measures.
* Challenge personal performance and develop skills to support the team and deliver consistent results.
* Be willing to support the business and quality department with other duties that are vital to the success of the business e.g., Health and Safety representative.
* Champion quality, health and safety improvements within the department, whilst also supporting health and safety initiatives within the wider business.
* Work within the departmental rota as a functioning part of the Quality Team providing relevant cover when required even if this means a change to the usual shift pattern.
Key Requirements
* Qualified in relevant subjects to GCSE / NVQ level 2 (Chemistry or equivalent) with comparable industrial experience, must be numerate, analytical and IT literate.
