What you’ll be responsible for
As a key member of the Asset Planning Team, you will be part of a team:
Asset Planning at Welsh Water plays a crucial role in helping the company achieve its outcomes in the short, medium, and long term (0-30 years) under varying scenarios. The team provides timely direction and insights to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
As Portfolio Risk Specialist you will:
The Role holder will ensure effective analysis of financial risk, asset risk and customer risk to ensure an accurate Portfolio risk profile can be presented and inform effective decision making for both medium term business planning and Business Plan delivery. Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop risk analysis approaches that support improved forecasting and reporting of portfolio risk and enables evidence-based decision making.
2. Define the overall risk contingency, provision and liability position for the Portfolio.
3. Develop a Risk Intelligence capability to ensure lessons learnt are fed back across DCWW.
4. Support the ISO55001 Asset Management System development and control.
5. Providing training and advice to all users of asset risk systems and processes.
6. Working with the Asset Management teams across the business to improve, and quality assure the risk data used in investment decisions and strategic planning.
7. Lead in the coaching and communication of the benefits of risk management to promote and embed an improved approach in line with corporate objectives.
8. Evaluate the investment cases for risk expenditure at future price reviews.
9. Produce Asset Investment Group (AIG) reports highlighting portfolio asset risk exposures, Project Risk exposure, key asset risks and the key changes to enable the business to understand the level of risk being managed and support decision making for the development of asset investment plans to ensure best balance of outcomes and whole life costs.
10. Organisation and administration of the ISO 55000 system and audits to meet the needs of the business.
11. Contributing to the team vision of developing world class Asset Management Practices, methods and approaches.
12. To work with other businesses and build a successful Risk Management Process to support achievement of our TOTEX efficiency targets.
13. To continuously improve knowledge, competences and skills in risk, including formal and informal training and active membership of professional risk institutions.
14. Carry out any other duties as required to meet business needs.

About you
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Qualified to a degree level or equivalent experience.
* Use and application of risk processes to generate cost efficient opportunities as part of the investment process.
* An understanding of investment planning in the water utilities sector.
* Experience in, and understanding of water and wastewater asset performance.
* Knowledge and a proven track record in business processes and change management.
* Ability to develop positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the business.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multi team environment.
* Ability to produce clear, well-structured reports which facilitates effective decision making and to communicate information clearly through use of data visualisation, making complex data more accessible.
