This position is with a leading defence supplier, and sits within the Cyber & Encryption Security Realm. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have sole British citizenship and hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC).

This company is growing their team and are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to work on their Cyber and Information Assurance projects.
Responsibilities include:
1. Analysing software requirements, high level architecture design, low level detailed design, implementation, test and integration.
2. Providing estimates and assisting with the planning process.
3. Line management of a team of engineers, including career development and mentoring.
4. Leading the team to deliver, assisting with design issues and supervising progress.
5. Ensuring software developed within the team is of high quality and follows the defined development processes.
6. Updating and refining software development methodologies and tools.
Experience Needed:
1. Full life-cycle software development experience.
2. Recent experience using C or C++ in embedded applications; experience targeting PC environments is an advantage.
3. A sound understanding of operating system concepts such as multi-threading, process scheduling, inter-process communication, memory management, and I/O.
4. Scripting expertise with bash, python, or similar.
5. Proven experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and programming skills.
6. Configuration management and version control e.g., GitHub.
Desirable Experience:
1. Experience in the Defence/Aerospace or safety regulated environment.
2. Design for Security.
3. An understanding of digital security technology.
4. Continuous integration, unit testing, and static analysis.
5. x86 architecture, hardware programming, and device driver models.
6. Implementation of Graphical User Interfaces.
7. Experience of developing for microcontrollers, ideally RISC-V.
8. Experience of developing encryption or security products.
9. Networking technologies, network security, and network programming.
10. Requirements analysis, capture, and management using IBM Rational DOORS.
11. Proven C++ programming experience (including the Standard Template Library) on Linux and/or Windows platforms.
12. RUST knowledge.
13. Familiarity with cross-compilation toolchains and on-target debugging.
14. Previous experience of leading within a software development program, including the mentoring or leading of other software developers is desirable.
15. Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software, or Systems Engineering.
