The Senior Clinical Supervisor / Service Lead MHST will provide the clinical leadership to ensure the implementation and delivery of our Wave 11 MHSTs in selected schools within Brent and Hillingdon. These posts will provide management and leadership for staff within the MHSTs.
This post will work in partnership with the Service Manager and will further develop the partnership working that is currently taking place between education, the Local Authority and ICB. This post will report to the relevant partnership meetings.
We are recruiting two vacancies for our new Wave 11 Teams. We have one full-time post (1.0 WTE) in our Hillingdon MHST and one part-time post (0.5 WTE) in our Brent MHST.
Main duties of the job
* Work in partnership with Senior leaders in schools to set up and deliver the MHST.
* With Senior CAMHS Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor be responsible and ensure the effective co-ordination of clinical care provided within schools including consideration to safeguarding and clinical risk issues where indicated.
* Build relationships across local services to ensure joint delivery of care.
* Provide clinical leadership of the team, providing supervision and caseload management to the Senior CAMHS Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor.
The service will be available Monday to Friday 9-5pm, though there may be times when workshops or community work are required in evenings or at weekends and it is essential that the post holder is flexible.
The post holder will act in support with fellow team leaders in providing clinical Leadership and advice across the MHST Service.

The Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST) is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors.
The postholder will work as a specialist member of the clinical multi-disciplinary team in providing the highest quality care and treatment for young people, their families and/or carers within the school's project areas. The post holder will work closely with other team members from a variety of clinical and service backgrounds to provide a psychological perspective to cases as well as ensuring the effective delivery of the Mental Health in Schools project. The postholder will be expected to travel and work from various locations as required, and will work closely with the Schools Service Manager and other Clinical Leads for the MHSTs in Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon.

Clinical leadership
* Lead on the service design and implementation of the educational mental health support teams in schools across the agreed locality bases.
* Be a source of child mental health knowledge and expertise and be able to provide direct support and guidance to the Senior Early Intervention Clinician and Educational Mental Health Practitioners in their day to day management of young people that may present with psychological and mental health problems.
* To maintain a high clinical profile, being highly visible, accessible and approachable to staff, children and young people, stakeholders and the public to ensure that open and honest communication channels are created and sustained.
* To ensure the provision of highly specialised and consistent clinical care packages including minimisation of risk of harm across the service, maintaining an overview of the standards of care being delivered and instigating remedial action if necessary and in accordance with current legislation and Trust policy and procedure.
* Take a strategic lead in developing the team taking a whole school perspective and planning ahead in order to future-proof capacity and effectiveness.
* To monitor all clinical incidents within defined area, observing for trends and need for service or staff development and working with senior leads to inform strategy and service development improvements.
* Effectively manage the performance of staff ensuring that policies and procedures are followed and best practice is maintained.
* To work with relevant senior leads in assessing the clinical skills required to deliver a safe and high quality service, identifying gaps and supporting developing programmes to address these issues.

Service Delivery and Development
* To lead in the development and review of the MHST Schools provision and related policies and protocols as the clinical lead and the manager of the service.
* Identify and escalate any risk within service development and escalate within the CYPS governance process.
* Manage the complex programme of work including all people and financial resources within the remit of the programme.
* Work within a collaborative style both with senior managers within the Trust, and relevant partners.
* To work in partnership with the key stakeholders, and undertake a defined role, in the development of improved pathways of care for young people, supporting choice and flexibility and identifying gaps in service provision.
* To actively participate, and lead in the recruitment and selection of clinical and non-clinical staff ensuring appropriate skill mix for the service.
* To negotiate and agree priorities, deliverables and timescales for the development of the project and ensure that work is delivered on time and to agreed standard.
* To present information on all aspects of the service implementation and delivery activities in a clear and understandable way tailored to suit the needs of the audience. This could be in written, verbal and presentation formats as required.
* To oversee the tracking of progress against plans and milestones, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to flag issues, risks and concerns with relevant stakeholders.
* Be responsible for ensuring that patient contact data is diligently collected and recorded so that the effectiveness of the pilot can be comprehensively evaluated and that specific performance data meets reporting requirement.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
* Qualified in core profession such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, Child Psychotherapist, Social Work or creative therapies e.g. Art Therapy.
* A good understanding of CBT principles and application in practice.
* Postgraduate (Masters and above) level of clinical study.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
* Relevant post graduate qualification in Mental Health related field.
* Qualification in CBT.
* Relevant management qualification and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Evidence of experience in completing specialist mental health assessments and formulation.
* Experience of delivering CBT based interventions.
