About the role:
We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated hands-on electronic engineers to join our growing team as Field Service Engineers.
After completion of product training (in factory and on the job training), our Field Service Engineers will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments, ensuring that our systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards. You will be expected to troubleshoot complex technical issues while responding quickly and effectively.
Our Field Service Engineers are also tasked with keeping accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and customer interactions which are critical for tracking performance and providing first-rate customer service.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be happy to travel, as the majority of your working time will be spent on-site at customer locations, both in the UK and abroad, either working on your own or leading a small team. When in the UK you must be able to attend our site in Norwich on a daily basis.
The main responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out Installation, commissioning, repair, service and training of Gunnery Systems and Submarine Navigation Plotting Tables and other company products.
* Once trained and deemed competent, carrying out live firing of weapon mounted systems.
* Carrying out testing to ensure accurate fault diagnosis.
* Coordinating with the Project Managers and Customer Support Manager in order to ensure effective delivery of service to the customer at their sites.
* Producing complete, accurate and timely reports.
* Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, whilst delivering high standards of work and customer service.
* Adhering to health and safety practices and procedures.
* Constructing, conducting and instructing training courses within the factory and at customer locations.
* Attending Sea Trials for periods of times at sea, keeping to ship routines.
* Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
About the person:
To be a successful candidate for this role you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets:
* Deg/HND/HNC/ONC Electronic Engineering.
* Proven and demonstrable field service experience.
* Technical knowledge of diagnosing and repairing, digital, electronic, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment.
* Able to read complex wiring diagrams and devise workable fault diagnosis instructions.
* Physically fit to Eng 1 standard and be capable of passing Sea Survival course.
* High level of computer literacy to include Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
* Polite and confident in speaking at all levels.
* A positive ‘can do’ approach with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers in possible extreme environmental conditions, in the UK and abroad.
* Resourceful, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible and can adapt quickly to changing schedules.
* Reside within a daily commutable distance of Norwich (NR7).
* Full Driving Licence to drive in the UK and abroad.
* UK Valid passport with no travel restrictions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
* Physically fit to be able to work in harsh (hot and cold) environments in the UK and overseas.
* Work inclusively in a small close-knit team, parting knowledge and sharing information is critical to the success of a first-time diagnosis of customer equipment failures.
* Open plan office environment.
