Waterman is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Nottingham office. As part of the team, you will be an integral part of a thriving department, working on a wide range of projects across various sectors. Our office is located in the heart of Nottingham, next to the National Justice Museum, with excellent transport links and nearby parking. The welcoming and diverse team in Nottingham is working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in Nottingham, across the UK. From leading-edge arts and media facilities to major new student residential developments, our projects span a wide range of sectors, providing variety and opportunities for professional development.
What you’ll be doing:
• Leading and managing electrical design projects across a variety of sectors including residential, education, commercial, MoJ, and laboratory sectors.
• Collaborating with other disciplines, particularly mechanical engineering, to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Preparing and managing fee proposals, working closely with clients, and representing Waterman in meetings.
• Coordinating with the wider team, managing workload, and ensuring deadlines are met efficiently.
• Providing leadership within the team, particularly for less experienced engineers and graduates, helping to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Designing electrical services throughout the RIBA stages and in accordance with the Building Safety Act and associated Building Gateways, including detailed designs, specifications, and calculations.
• Engaging with clients, attending site visits, and providing technical advice as required.
• Working on a variety of projects, including small to medium-sized schemes, as well as larger-scale residential and commercial projects.
Who we’re looking for:
To thrive in this role, you should have a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in electrical design engineering (5-6 years for a senior position). You will have experience in delivering electrical designs across multiple stages of a project, as well as managing client relationships and contributing to the growth of the team.
Key qualifications and experience:
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience in electrical design within the building services sector, across a range of project types.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
• Experience using design software such as RELUX, Electrical OM (although not essential) REVIT (familiarity with MagiCAD is a plus).
• Understanding of project management, including coordinating with internal teams and clients to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and provide leadership in project delivery.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
