An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Therapies Team within the Integrated Care Directorate at Velindre Cancer Centre, on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week). Part-time hours/job shares would be considered.
The successful candidate will work within the Dietetic service to deliver high-quality care to their patient population. The work will involve working directly with cancer patients across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, and radiotherapy services within the cancer centre. The post holder will see a specialist caseload of cancer patients. Alongside their clinical duties, the successful candidate will undertake service development, best practice projects, and audit.
Main Duties of the Job
The job role will involve working within the Dietetic Team, supported by the Therapies Management team. The post holder will work with nursing and other allied health professional colleagues in a well-developed multi-disciplinary team.
The role will include seeing patients who require complex dietetic input to optimize their nutritional status through oral, enteral, and parenteral feeding, as well as managing their treatment side effects.
Minimum Requirements
The post holder will be a qualified Dietitian, registered with the HCPC, with relevant CPD, postgraduate development, and clinical experience. Strong clinical skills in nutrition support and an ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges experienced by patients undergoing treatments for cancer is important. It is desirable to have experience of working within oncology. We are also looking for a good team player and an ability to manage a busy caseload, delivering on both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. A high standard of personal organization and time management are essential. You will be able to demonstrate advanced communication skills and have experience of MDT working. Skills to supervise and support junior staff and student dietitians are required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
