Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive Temporary Works Design Engineer who is either already chartered or actively working towards chartership. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing a wide range of temporary works solutions, including but not limited to façade retention, piling mats, scaffold design, and various other civil and structural temporary works projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Analysis:
o Develop innovative temporary works designs for diverse projects, including façade retention systems, piling mats, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
o Conduct detailed structural calculations and analyses to ensure design integrity and safety.
2. Technical Documentation:
o Prepare detailed design drawings, technical reports, specifications, and documentation in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
o Ensure that all design documentation is clear, comprehensive, and compliant with industry best practices.
3. Project Collaboration:
o Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver effective temporary works solutions.
o Provide technical support and guidance during the construction phase, ensuring that the temporary works are implemented safely and efficiently.
4. Compliance & Quality Assurance:
o Ensure all designs adhere to local, national, and international codes, standards, and best practices.
o Proactively identify potential design risks and implement robust solutions to mitigate them.
5. Innovation & Improvement:
o Stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and innovative design techniques to continually enhance our temporary works solutions.
o Contribute ideas for process improvements and support the ongoing development of the company’s technical expertise.
Key Requirements:
1. Professional Qualifications:
o A degree in Civil, Structural, or a related Engineering discipline.
o Chartered status or active progress towards chartership is essential.
2. Experience:
o Proven experience in the design of temporary works, such as façade retention, piling mats, scaffold design, and other civil and structural applications.
o Demonstrable ability to carry out rigorous structural analyses and design calculations.
3. Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in industry-standard design software and CAD tools.
o Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards.
4. Personal Attributes:
o A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
