About our Global Freight Forwarding client:
They are an ambitious independent logistics operator with three divisions, covering Road Freight, Air & Sea Freight and Warehousing.
The group employs over 1,400 people with 17 branches in the UK, and the Republic of Ireland, plus other teams across Europe and internationally in Hong Kong, China, India, and the UAE.
Position Summary:
Working closely with the pricing team, operations, business development managers, and agents to undertake all operational requirements of the import section within the airfreight division.
This is where you come in:
They are currently looking for an Airfreight Import Operator to join their team based in Egham, Surrey. You will need a strong background within Operations and Airfreight including customs clearance on CDS, as well as being solutions-focused with strong time management skills.
Our Ideal Person:
1. A minimum of 2 years Air Freight, Operational experience.
2. Working knowledge of Import customs clearance within airfreight.
3. Excellent time management - Handling multiple urgent tasks whilst having the ability to constantly prioritise your incoming workload.
4. Flexible working approach - Being able to move from one task to another under sometimes tight deadlines.
5. Excellent communicator and dedication to excellent customer service and a desire to improve the Gross profit margins are required.
In this role, you will:
1. Provide excellent customer service, operational handling & attention to detail when dealing with customers.
2. Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure client and company expectations are met.
3. Generate import customs entries whilst ensuring compliance with HMRC obligations.
4. Assist with administration tasks within the department, including job costing and invoicing for the import team.
5. Ensure all duty/tax payments made via FTS are collected and monitored.
6. Demonstrate excellent communication with customers, agents & suppliers via phone and email.
7. Undertake airfreight import operations, ensuring receipt of bookings, arranging customs clearance, airline liaison, and collection & delivery of cargo to the final delivery point.
8. Complete credit checks on accounts in-line with company policy.
9. Ensure arrival notifications are promptly dealt with and keeping stakeholders updated throughout.
