The Lifeways Group in Ashington are currently looking to expand their fantastic team of Support Workers in our local supported living services. Each person we support has their own self-contained flat within the service buildings and your work will be varied as you'll be supporting with all sorts of activities including swimming, shopping, going for a coffee, going to the cinema, visiting museums and clubs and holiday breaks both in the UK and abroad. At Milburn Court there are 10 two-bedroom apartments, each with individual access, an open-plan kitchen and living room. The apartments have a mixture of standard bathrooms, wet room style or some with showers over the bath, depending on individual needs.Apartment five is a dedicated communal apartment, available for all people that we support to use for social interaction and events. It comes equipped with a television and games console. Assistive technology can be tailored to suit the needs of each person and there is an intercom system and external CCTV.You'll also be supporting the people that we support with general household tasks such as cooking, laundry, housework, finances, health care appointments and in some cases personal care (assisting with bathing, toileting and feeding). In addition you will be supporting them to varied and interesting work placements in the community. We work within the principles of person-centred support, enabling development and inclusion in their everyday lives both within their home and the wider community. Therapeutic animals are encouraged - we have a cat and some budgies. You'll either be an enthusiastic person with plenty of patience, looking for a career change, to bring new life and experiences into our service, or you'll be an experienced Support Worker with a background in complex emotional or behavioural settings looking for a change and wanting to be part of a team that will make a difference to the people that we support, to give them new opportunities in their life, both at home and in the community. You'll get a fully paid induction with ongoing training and support from a dedicated Manager, plus the opportunity to undertake a qualification in health and social care funded by Lifeways Group and so much more when you join.
