We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, HCPC registered Radiographer who may be ready for their next promotion or looking to further their career with us in Bedford.
You will be working with the Modality Leads to provide a high level of patient care and supervising and developing junior staff and student Radiographers.

+ Act as a patient and staff advocate by minimising their exposure to radiation.
+ Provide efficient and courteous provision of radiographic services to the departments agreed standards whilst taking into account the patient's clinical, physical and cultural needs.
+ Responsible for own practice, correlating practice with Directorate protocols.
+ Required to work without direct supervision or support in out of hours duties.
+ In addition trains and supervises junior staff, student radiographers and other trainees.
+ To rotate throughout the department including theatres, To provide guidance and support to junior members of staff
To work independently in an on-call/standby situation, and to provide specialist advice in their specific areas of expertise to all staff
To demonstrate a high level of expertise in at least one modality, modify technique when necessary to take into account the patient's condition
To produce images of an optimum diagnostic quality to ensure Radiological interpretation is possible.
To be professionally accountable for all aspects of your own work including management of patients in your care.
To plan and prioritise workload on a daily basis assessing patients on their clinical need with the resources available, seeking help where appropriate.
To communicate effectively and sensitively with patients ensuring they have clear understanding of procedure and have consented to the examination. To deal with tact and diplomacy patients who may be distressed aggressive or abusive seeking help from senior colleagues where appropriate.
To communicate effectively both verbally, personally face to face and by phone with a wide range of clinical, technical and administrative staff across the Trust.
To rotate through all general areas as required.
To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice, maintain and develop personal portfolio.
To assist in the training and supervision of student radiographers, radiographer helpers and Assistant Practitioners developing personal mentoring and assessment skills.
To participate in the Trust appraisal system and maintain a personal development plan.
To be involved in audit and clinical governance processes within the department.
To understand personal responsibilities for Health & Safety and infection Control and adhere to Trust Health & Safety policy and infection control guidelines.
To ensure competency is maintained in all mandatory training
Very frequent movement of beds, wheelchairs, trolleys and patient transfers are involved in this post
To attend relevant courses and bringing knowledge gained back to the department for sharing and implementing
To ensure the proper us of equipment and supplies to reduce waste
To operate the high value equipment to maximise its efficiency.
To promptly report and identify equipment faults
To ensure the safe and careful use of the high sophisticated and expensive equipment in their care
To work flexibly and be able to deal with change in work levels and associated stress levels exacerbated by extremely unpredictable and heavy workloads
To accurately input details on to the RIS {Radiology Information System] and interrogate the system for patient details updating and recording information as required.
To be aware of and adhere to Trust and Departmental policies, guidelines, standard Operating Procedures and protocols.
To participate in discussions when departmental polices, SOPs and protocols are reviewed. To report any anomalies found in departmental policies, SOPs and protocols to the line Manager.
