Position: One-to-One Teaching Assistant for a Child with Autism

Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced One-to-One Teaching Assistant to work with a non-verbal child with autism. This is a full-time role, starting as soon as possible, with the view to becoming a permanent position at the end of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one support to a non-verbal child with autism in all aspects of their educational experience.
2. Utilize communication aids such as PECS and Makaton to support the child’s communication needs.
3. Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies.
4. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
5. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure the child’s holistic development.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children with autism and other special educational needs.
2. Proficiency in using communication aids such as PECS and Makaton.
3. Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and related behavioral strategies.
4. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
