Job summary Applications in this case are welcomed for a Consultant post in Clinical Haematology (General Haematology) with a sub-specialty in Lymphoma. This is a full time (10 PA) appointment based at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston which includes on-call provision. We have additional Lead Roles such as Head of Service for Haematology which are available at different times based on a 3-year fixed term post in additional to the Consultant role. These additional Lead Roles also attract between 1PA and 2PAs depending on the role. We have an established team of Specialist Registrars, Speciality Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists on both the Lincoln and Boston sites to support Consultants in delivering Haematology care. Main duties of the job Base - Pilgrim Hospital, Boston Responsibilities: The Clinical Haematology service comprises all Haematology/Oncology, general haematology, and haemostasis and thrombosis referrals for investigation, diagnosis and treatment. There is additional responsibility for investigation and advice on the management of patients with haematological problems from all other areas including ante-natal serology. This includes a bone marrow biopsy service for patients not under the direct care of the haematologists. Anticoagulant monitoring is managed within Primary Care. The Medical School at the University of Lincoln provides opportunities to support Medical Student placements for teaching. Our Haematology Department is heavily involved in phase 2 and 3 International Clinical Trials in particular within the field of myeloid malignancies and myeloma. You will also be able to develop your own research interest with the ability to join a well-established Translational Molecular Laboratory at University of Lincoln, to enable you to enrich your professional journey with Laboratory Base Research together with Clinical Research. Library, Science Library and Project Library. Anatomy Suite and Clinical Skills Suite. The entire building is designed to meet BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method). The successful applicant will work with Consultant colleagues to develop the Clinical and Laboratory Haematology service which is organised on a Trust wide basis. All Lymphoma patients are managed by the Haematologists. Acute Leukaemia patients requiring inpatient intensive Chemotherapy are treated in Lincoln County Hospital. General Inpatient Chemotherapy is also administered at Lincoln and Pilgrim Hospital. Our Outpatient Services are of equivalence at three sites, the third site being Grantham District Hospital. We also have an oncology department and radiotherapy services are available within the Trust to support with ongoing haematological/oncology treatment. As a Consultant you will have the full support and access to the Cancer Services Business Unit.
