The Telecoms Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and equipment. This role involves fieldwork, where the engineer will visit customer sites, ensure proper installation and functioning of telecoms infrastructure, and troubleshoot any issues. The Telecoms Field Engineer will work closely with both customers and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery The Position Job Title: Apprentice Telecoms Engineer Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship Duration: 13 months 3 months EPA Location: Southampton SO15 Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5pm Salary: £16,000 Role and Responsibilities: Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, voice systems, fibre optics, wireless network and CCTV. Set up customer premises equipment, ensuring all services are functioning as required. Perform on-site surveys to assess installation requirements. Diagnose and repair faults in telecoms equipment, including hardware failures and network issues. Conduct routine maintenance and preventive checks on telecom systems to ensure optimal performance. Respond to service outages, ensuring timely restoration of services. Provide clear and professional communication with customers regarding installation and service issues. Offer technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring they understand how to use the equipment and services. Address customer concerns and escalate issues to higher-level support when necessary. Maintain accurate records of all installations, maintenance, and repair work completed. Update post-installation reports on any work completed, issues resolved, ongoing concerns and anything outstanding. Requirements Driving License (21 and over for insurance purposes) Eligibility Criteria Individuals must have a valid and eligible residency status to apply for this role.
