Disrupt Talent is recruiting an experienced Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager (MP&L) for their client based in Coventry. Main Purpose of the Role
A key member of the Senior Management Team, the MP&L Manager is responsible for production planning, production control, material planning, demand, direct procurement, stock and inventory scheduling, final assembly, and for meeting customer expectations.
* Manage production planning and production control using the company’s MRP system (Factory Master). Work with Design and Manufacturing to ensure works orders are correctly created using route cards, bills of materials (BOMs) and drawings, and that end products meet customer requirements.
* Manage all direct procurement with budgetary responsibility for c.£1.2m spend per annum. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all key suppliers.
* Develop appropriate supply chain strategies to ensure the right balance between manufacturing requirements and adequate stock levels and costs. Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and are up to date in both the MRP system and storage machine.
* Plan, manage and coordinate the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed. Place purchase orders with suppliers, ensuring goods are received in time for manufacture.
* Final assembly of products, quality inspections and timely delivery to customers.
* Ownership of the company’s MRP system (Factory Master), ensuring maximum value is gained through use of the system.
* Attend production meetings to coordinate actual progress against production plans. Provide feedback on the progress of projects, orders and any escalations.
* Management and ongoing development of standard operating procedures relating to processes managed by the MP&L function.
* Adhere to the company’s quality and H&S management system and supporting processes (ISO9001:2015 and ISO45001). Ensure all staff use and wear appropriate PPE.
* Support a best practice and continuous improvement culture across the company, identifying opportunities where they arise and taking ownership for driving initiatives forward.
* Keep all work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
* Day to day line management of a small team, including:
o Allocation of tasks to ensure all work is delivered on time and to required quality standards.
o Cross training to ensure effective cover is in place when required.
o Team and personal training and development.
o Performance management, including objective setting and reviews.
o Absence management, including ensuring company sickness absence processes are followed.
o Effective communication, maintaining high levels of engagement and morale across the team.

Experience
* 10 years’ experience in an MP&L or related role in an engineering business.
* 5 years’ experience in a hands-on leadership/management role.
* Experience of using and getting the maximum value from MRP systems.
Qualifications
Having relevant professional or vocational qualifications would be a distinct advantage.
