About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
What You’ll Be Doing
We’re building an Adult Social Care system in Camden that’s based on relationships, love and what matters most to the people who draw on our support. The Prevention and Wellbeing service has grown over the past year and we’re now looking for a Team Manager to lead and manage the priorities of the Prevention and Wellbeing team (part of the wider Prevention & Wellbeing service) to add much needed capacity, sustainability and strength.
The Prevention & Wellbeing team deliver a wide variety work areas: being made up of project officers who lead on information and advice delivery and innovative projects in line with our strategic priorities; WISH Plus; and functions relating to our adult social care records management system, including training, support calls and auditing. You would manage the people who operationally deliver these work areas (there are 9 people in the team, 5 of which you would directly line manage). You will need to be able to understand these areas, and the processes within, in order to maintain oversight of their work priorities, commitments and development.
This includes being responsible for maintaining and developing the Adult Social Care information and advice platforms: Camden Care Choices (our external website) and the Practice Guide (our internal website) to ensure they meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders, including social care practitioners and people who draw on our care and support and their carers. You would also manage the support contract associated with this site and monitor the associated statistics. You would lead on supporting and growing the WISH Plus service, including management of the WISH Plus database and contributing to the contract monitoring of Metropolitan Thames Valley who deliver the Handyperson Service. You would also be responsible for other service development activities such as maintaining the team risk registers and business continuity plans, and the Adult Social Care privacy notice.
This role gives you the opportunity to contribute and influence the strategic direction of Adult Social Care, the Council, the Camden Borough Partnership, whilst ensuring compliance with our statutory duties. You will need to be able to work with and influence many stakeholders as part of your work, including the Council, NHS, Voluntary Community Sector and commissioned services. You will take every opportunity to coproduce work with people who draw on our services and their carers. You’ll make it your priority to ensure everyone has a voice, and there is always full consideration of local needs and opportunities. You will be accountable to various governance groups and boards through your work.
All About You
You will be an experienced line manager, who will be able to manage and prioritise the competing demands of a diverse team. You will understand that supporting and developing your team is a strength and key to the successful delivery of your role. You will be someone who is used to working under their own initiative, in fast paced environments, where priorities can change quickly.
The ideal person will have a track record of successfully delivering outcomes and driving improvement. You will be curious to look for new ways of doing things and identify opportunities to grow and develop services. You will have an outlook that is solution focussed to any challenges. You will need great communication, influencing and analytical skills. This is important because you would use these as a manager, to manage your work, to work collaboratively with stakeholders, which includes senior managers and other decision makers. You will have experience in developing and maintaining strong partnerships.
You would also need a good understanding of project management tools and their practical application; be able to develop and present complex information, including reports, to a high standard.
