Our Purpose The Registration Service provides a professional, compassionate and legally compliant registration service for births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, ensuring that all statutory duties are carried out with accuracy, empathy and respect for individuals during significant moments in their lives. The Role As a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, you will be responsible for the accurate recording and legal registration of life events in accordance with statutory requirements. This includes registering births and deaths, conducing and registering civil marriages and partnerships and offering associated services such as citizenship ceremonies and ceremony preliminaries. The role involves working closely with members of the public during often highly emotional or significant moments, requiring sensitivity, discretion and strong interpersonal skills. You will also be required to conduct formal ceremonies, manage legal documentation, and ensure a consistently high standard of customer care and administrative accuracy. Registrars must have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team delivering vital services to the community. About You The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administration or public service, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with care. Confidence in public speaking, a calm and compassionate approach, strong organisational skills are essential. Experience working in a legal, civic or customer facing role would be beneficial alongside the ability to interpret legislation and work both independently and as part of a team.
