SEN Teacher
Location: Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 (M1-UPS3)
Reporting to: Head of School
Hours: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled SEN teacher to join our team, focused on delivering high-quality education that prepares young people for adulthood. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons within a meaningful curriculum tailored to learners' needs. As the school grows, career development and progression opportunities may be available for the right candidate.
Main Purpose:
To provide high-quality teaching and learning to young people with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties, as well as complex needs including ASD.
Requirements:
PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training (essential)
Understanding of the SEN Teacher Standards and expectations
Knowledge and experience of SEN learning, particularly sensory-based curriculums
Positive team working, contributing to an established team
Accuracy in assessing, reporting, and recording progress
The ability to guide and direct other adults in the classroom
The role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines
Key Duties of a SEN Teacher:
Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
Work with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans when delivering lessons.
Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to improve learning.
Monitor, assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, and funding bodies.
Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate.
Develop lesson plans with reflection on outcomes.
Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings and maintain good communication with staff.
Contribute to the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
