SEN/SLCN Support Assistant Needed for a Bispham Primary School!
A thriving school in Bispham is on the lookout for an SLCN (Speech, Language, and Communication Needs) Support Assistant to join their KS1 team. With a strong support staff already in place, the headteacher is eager to expand this dedicated team further. The chosen SLCN Support Assistant will work both one-to-one and within mainstream classrooms.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting students with SEN/SLCN. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting with tailored communication exercises.
2. Implementing individualised support plans.
3. Helping students enhance their language and communication skills.
4. Collaborating closely with teachers and speech therapists to meet each student’s unique needs.
We’re seeking a highly motivated individual who is passionate about helping students with SLCN succeed. The ideal candidate will:
1. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Be able to work effectively in a classroom setting.
3. Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
4. Have experience working with children or individuals with SLCN.
5. Possess a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
6. Have training in Makaton or other communication systems.
7. Have prior experience in a school or educational setting, particularly with students who have SLCN.
8. Have a solid understanding of SLCN and various communication strategies.
9. Be adaptable to tailor support methods to individual student needs.
10. Exhibit patience and empathy when working with children with communication challenges.
