About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong academic record and a supportive, inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their best.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts and investigative skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
* Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting lessons to suit a range of learning abilities.
* Engage students through practical experiments, demonstrations, and interactive learning methods.
* Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and support.
* Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for Science.
* Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and implement effective classroom management strategies.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department to share resources and best practices.
* Participate in school meetings, parents’ evenings, and contribute to extracurricular activities such as Science clubs or competitions.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
* Experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
* Ability to engage and inspire students through innovative teaching methods.
* Effective classroom management skills with a commitment to student development.
* Willingness to contribute to the wider school community and extracurricular activities.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
