This role is internally known as Investment Office Specialist.
NFU Mutual have a rare, and exciting opportunity for an Investment Office Specialist to join the Investment Office team within our highly respected, and skilled Finance Division.
The Investment Office plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing NFU Mutual’s investment strategies and portfolios. Its primary purpose is to ensure that our investments are aligned with the company's financial goals and risk management policies. Some of the key aspects of the Investment Office team include investment strategy and management, external fund selection, research and analysis, and compliance and governance.
The primary objective of this opportunity is to assist the External Fund Selection Manager by conducting various analyses and research to aid in the selection and oversight of our external fund managers.
You’ll conduct research and produce conclusions on areas including external fund manager strategies, performance and risk metrics across a range of assets classes and geographies to help monitor existing investments and identify potential opportunities.
Additionally, you’ll support the production of papers for the Executive and Board Investment Committees which include quarterly monitoring of existing investments and longer-term investment strategy.
Further duties include:
* Work closely with the External Managers to understand and analyse investment styles, performance, portfolio positioning and ESG characteristics, in order to contribute to the production of fund selection and monitoring reports.
* Ensure NFU Mutual’s selection and monitoring processes are followed, and contribute to the improvement of relevant processes over time.
* Investigate and resolve operational issues that may arise from External Fund Managers, third parties or the wider Investment function.
About you
As an Investment Office Specialist, you have strong communication skills and can easily build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Highly numerate with strong analytical and IT skills, you bring a genuine interest in all things investment related and readily keep up to date with the latest sector trends and news. To join our team, you must also have:
* A solid understanding of financial markets and financial systems.
* A degree in a numerate subject, for example Economics, Finance, Maths or Physics.
* Demonstrable experience working within the investments industry. (desirable)
* An appropriate professional qualification, such as CFA, FRM or FIA or be willing to work towards. (desirable)
* Experience using Bloomberg, Mercer Insight and Morningstar. (desirable)
* Experience of working with Statistics.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Excel and Visual Basic. (desirable)
