Position
We are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Credit Control Manager who has a strong background in running a team within credit control and ideally has worked in a Logistics or Transport organisation.
You will have the ability to collaborate proactively with colleagues across departments and internal/external stakeholders to resolve disputes efficiently, while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance processes for greater scalability and effectiveness.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Provide weekly reports to the Head of Finance on key performance indicators (KPIs), including debtor aging, direct debit onboarding and collections, and credit notes. Contribute to cash flow forecasting by incorporating known and anticipated payment dates from the debtor ledger.
2. Lead and manage the team, ensuring daily and weekly cash collection and debtor day targets are met.
3. Constantly seek to improve processes.
4. Resolve account queries with internal departments.
5. Ensure that all telephone conversations or email communications are recorded in our in-house systems.
6. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and best practices.
7. Keep actions up to date and diarise for responses such as following up on emails, phone calls, promise to pay and debt letters sent.
8. General administrative and support for the Finance Director.
9. Champion company culture, values, and behaviours, leading by example.
10. Coach, mentor, and develop team members, identifying training needs and opportunities for growth.
Requirements
1. Proven experience in managing a successful credit control function with a track record of driving and implementing continuous process improvements.
2. Experience within a logistics or transport company would be an added advantage.
3. Use of range of office software, including email, spreadsheets and databases.
4. Strong communication skills, both internally (escalating and collaborating with other departments) and externally (engaging with customers).
5. Persistent and goal-oriented, with a commitment to building a high-performing finance function and independently resolving issues effectively.
6. Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
7. Adaptable to a growing company environment, capable of managing a team as well as customers whilst maximizing the use of available tools.
8. Must currently hold a Credit Control Manager position or an equivalent role.
9. Proven experience in reporting is a key requirement.
10. Strong ability to communicate, influence, and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
11. Previous experience in leading and managing a team is essential.
