Description The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience within the Northwest region by being involved in the development of the Intelligence processes between Police and partners including primarily HMPPS. With involvement and awareness of a number of covert tactics and exposure to policing at all levels of investigation. The role strives to take a Proactive approach to disrupting SOC within the prison establishments by targeting OCG’s and other key nominals by utilising a variety of methods. This advertised role is split between HMP MANCHESTER which is a Cat ‘A’ establishment and HMP FOREST BANK which is a busy remand prison servicing the Greater Manchester conurbation. The successful candidate must have either achieved accreditation for Intelligence Professional Portfolio (IPP) as an Intelligence Officer within the last three years or prepared to undergo the pathway to obtaining this accreditation. The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm. The post is subject to an initial 2 year secondment with extensions based on continued funding.
